Law Enforcement
Under the direction of the Public Safety Director, Ivins City Law Enforcement has the responsibility for preserving the peace, protecting life and property, and responding to citizen requests for law enforcement services. The City carries out its law enforcement duties by using its full-time Public Safety Officers. Ivins City Officers assist the full-time Shelter Manager and part-time shelter workers when needed. They are also responsible for the organization of crime prevention programs and to provide custodial care of evidence. These Officers work in harmony with the schools, counseling agencies and the Utah Division of Family Services.
Ivins City Public Safety Officers are cross-trained as law enforcement officers, firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). As law enforcement officers they are required to complete an extensive training program certified through P.O.S.T. (Peace Officers Standards & Training). As firefighters they are required to have Wildland Fire Fighting Certification, Structure Fire Fighter I Certification, and other applicable certifications. As an EMT they are required to be certified as a Basic EMT.
Ivins City contracts with the City of St. George for dispatch services. The City of St. George Police Department houses the Communications Center and is responsible for public safety communications throughout Washington County.
Ivins City, in cooperation with Santa Clara City and the City of St. George, provides School Resource Officers at Lava Ridge Intermediate School, Snow Canyon Middle School, and Snow Canyon High School.
With summer upon us we have been coming into contact with many juveniles who have been in violation of the curfew ordinance. Curfew for youth under 16 is 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. For youth 16 and 17 years old, the curfew is 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM!

Neighborhood Watch is a program designed to increase security on neighborhood blocks by involving as many individuals and families as possible in a united crime prevention effort.
Bicycles are stolen routinely in Ivins City. Please help the Public Safety Department to identify a stolen bicycle by downloading the License Registration form and recording the serial number for identification. Ivins City Public Safety Department keeps the registration on file so if a bicycle is reported stolen, and it is recovered, it can be claimed by the owner.
Complete the registration form and bring it to the Public Safety Office at 90 W. Center St. so a bicycle license tag can be issued. This ID tag is attached to the frame in a conspicuous area to deter theft and aid in identification.

Most burglaries are committed in broad daylight and nearly one-third occur through unlocked doors or open windows. Some other illegal entries occur because residents leave keys hidden outside in obvious places, leave doors unlocked while working in the yard or by use of a former occupant’s key. Approximately half of all forced entries are made without the use of a tool. The burglar just uses hands or feet.
