Volunteer Coaches

We are always in need of volunteer coaches for our leagues.

Our volunteer coaches are very important to the success of each of our recreational sports programs.

Their responsibilities include:

  • letting players know where and when practices and games will be
  • helping teach players to play the game
  • helping teach players about sportsmanship

and of course they do this in such a way that all of the players have fun!

Children's Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre

Singing, dancing, and acting skill are taught as the students build self-esteem and cooperation skill.  Stage presence, microphone, pronunciation and other public speaking abilities are learned.  The students learn to sing together in a group as well as individually.  They learn about posture, projection, articulation, tone, pitch, etc.  Full length Musical Productions and other performances give our students the chance to perform and show off what they are learning.  In-class casting auditions help to teach the students about the audition process and help them to become more successful performers.

Musical theatre is taught by Ms. Teresa Hill-Putnam.  Ms. Teresa is a local resident who came to Ivins from Denver, CO where she owned and directed a large Performing Arts School.  She has been teaching for over 24 years.  Musical Theatre is offered for children ages 5 thru high school.  New Musical Productions are offered every 3 to 4 months.  Many performance opportunities are available throughout the year for students who desire to perform.

Dance Classes

Ballet and Jazz Technique

We use barre, stretching, and center exercises to teach the positions and steps of classical ballet in a fun and positive environment.  Flexibility, coordination, balance, body awareness, listening and discipline skills are all stressed.  All students learn the correct terminology and meanings of their steps, as well as how to perform each of them.  Ballet is the basis of all dance forms and builds a great foundation for all students.  Classical jazz technique, theatrical jazz and lyrical jazz steps are incorporated into this class to encourage our dancers to be well-rounded.  Stretching, isolation, and center exercises encourage balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, rhythm and self-esteem. Tap Dancing

Coordination and balance skill are stressed in this class as students learn the basic technique of tap dancing.  Tap shoes are required.  Rhythm and musicality development skills are emphasized.
