The Blue Sky Community Challenge

The Blue Sky Community Challenge

The Blue Sky Community Challenge is a program managed by Rocky Mountain Power promoting community support for renewable energy projects like ours.  For us to qualify Ivins City must be a Blue Sky participant along with a percentage of our residents.  Several of you already are, and thanks to your generosity the City is now on board using your donations rather than public monies to fund our obligation.  We asked for your help and many of you responded making our participation possible.  Thank you for that.

Geology Class

"Reading the Chapters of Earth History Exposed in Zion National Park"

Is the present the key to the past or is the past the key to the present?  Travel thru time with Marc on a geologic adventure that may help explain some current day processes which concern us all.

Fee: This class is offered at no charge to the first 40 people who register at the Ivins City offices.

Bio
Marc was born in Massachusetts and went to school in the Boston Area and Southern Illinois.  After leaving Illinois in 1979 he went to work for Shell Oil Company where he was an exploration geologist looking for oil and gas deposits globally for almost 30 years. Marc retired to St. George in 2008 with his wife Chrystal and together they lead Road Scholar (Elderhostel) Trips to all of the National Parks in Utah.

REWARD

Due to the unusual number of this summer's suspiciously caused fires in the Kayenta area and along Old Highway 91, an offer of up to $1,000 reward has been posted for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals who have caused these fires.  If you have information that may help the Ivins City Public Safety Department convict individuals for this offense, please contact the Washington County Dispatch office at 435-634-5730. Offenses By or Against Minors including CURFEW

With summer upon us we have been coming into contact with many juveniles who have been in violation of the curfew ordinance. Curfew for youth under 16 is 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. For youth 16 and 17 years old, the curfew is 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM!
